Two incredibly fortunate lottery fans were awarded $1m prizes in the scratch-off games by the North Carolina Education Lottery within the same week.

Guilford County resident bags first Jumbo Bucks top prize

The Lottery announced on Friday that an enthusiastic resident of Guilford County was the first to win a top prize in its well-loved Jumbo Bucks scratch-off game.

The High Point inhabitant, Kenneth Bennett, tested his luck with a newly bought $10 ticket.

This serendipitous ticket was procured at Raceway on South Main Street in High Point.

Much to Bennett's astonishment, it ended up being his lucky day, landing the first $1m prize from Jumbo Bucks, according to a press release.

The unbelievably fortunate man from Guilford County recently visited the Lottery's headquarters to claim his winnings.

Like other major awards, Bennett had the option of receiving yearly payments for the total amount or choosing an immediate cash reward.

The first choice involved getting $50,000 annually for the following 20 years, totaling $1 million.

The other option was a lump sum payment of $600,000.

As many anticipated, the High Point local chose the latter and ended up with $429,003, post-tax deductions.

Bennett did not disclose any specific plans for his unexpected fortune.

Another lucky individual claims the top award from the same scratch-off game

In a surprising development, the North Carolina Education Lottery announced that another winner had claimed the $1 million top prize from the identical lottery ticket.

Once again, the Lottery confirmed on Friday that a Creedmoor resident secured another $1 million grand prize from Jumbo Bucks.

Manuel Taveras, a resident of Granville County, purchased his $10 ticket at Family Fare located on Guess Road, Durham.

The lottery player's surprise was immense when he turned $10 into an impressive $1 million prize.

Like the Guilford County winner, Taveras was given the option of receiving a lump sum in cash or enjoying the total $1 million in annual payments.

The Creedmoor native opted for the lump sum of $600,000.

After accounting for applicable taxes, Taveras' bank balance increased by $393,000.
